Game Industry Salary Report 2026

Release: December 2026 Last updated 21 October 2026

What game developers earn, by role, seniority, country and gender.

Salary reports for the games industry are mostly country-specific, and those that are not rely on responses that over-represent some countries and roles. This report covers more than 15 countries, with more than 5,000 salaries from 2019 to 2026, and compares like with like: if animators seem to earn more than 3D artists, it shows whether the gap comes from the job itself or from something else, such as the animators in the data being more senior.

Content

A PDF report with:

  • Pay by role, seniority, country, and gender.
  • Salary trends against inflation and tech-industry salaries.
  • Focus pages by country and by job.

Method & data

We use multilevel regression and post-stratification (MRP). The regression estimates pay by role, seniority, country and gender at once, so each difference is measured with the other characteristics held constant. Post-stratification then weights the estimates by known totals of the video game workforce, so the figures describe the real workforce (and not just the people who answered the survey).
